– Description: This course offers an exposition of the fundamentals and potentiality of CFD modeling and simulation tools applied to WWTP, as well as its synergy with activated sludge models (ASM), emphasizing its application for process design and optimization. The main objective is to present the tool to the student, showing its theoretical basis, operation and application possibilities. The student will obtain a general knowledge about the CFD tool, how it works and what it can contribute to wastewater treatment. In order to show the potential of CFD in wastewater treatment and its synergy with ASM models, a successful case study carried out by combining both tools will be presented.
